Many a golf lover, over the past century or so, has set out to create The Course of Perfection. Few indeed have achieved their dreams, and of those who have, the end result may not have achieved the universal accolade expected.

It is remarkable then, what Lloyd Williams fashioned at Capital. His vision, persistence and attention to detail has reached a high degree of golfing sculpture. It is visually stunning, intriguing and underneath, an astonishing engineering achievement. Capital is arguably Australia's finest course, which makes it in turn, one of the top courses in the world. It has modernity in plenty, measuring a length which stretches the top players. It has all the features of bunkers, rough and hazards that any world standard course would offer. In Capital's case, the whole landscape is complete. All this is under a maintenance program that offers a set of holes in immaculate condition. It is almost too good. Tees, fairways and greens have a smoothness and quality that touches the incredible. It seems an act of wanton destruction to take a divot from the fairway, or to march through a white bunker. Putting on the greens is like walking on smooth silk.

In time, the course will become acknowledged for what it is - a golfing masterpiece that should stand the test of time and take its place amongst the famous. There may never be another quite like it!
